Ayer me topé con uno de esos amigos que apenas tengo ocasión de ver, así que decidimos ir a tomar algo para ponernos al día. En medio de la conversación me referí a Bilbao (no recuerdo exactamente en que contexto) y el susodicho amigo exclama: “¡Bilbao! ¡Claro! ¿Cómo no me había dado cuenta antes? ¡Como en la canción That Old Bilbao!”, lo que provocó un sonoro “¿Lo cualo?” por mi parte (en correctísimo inglés: “The which-o?”)

Pues resulta que hay un músical de 1929, compuesto por Kurt Weill y Bertolt Brecht, llamado Happy End que trata sobre gangsters en Chicago pero que, curiosamente, incluye una canción llamada The Bilbao Song. La letra de la canción no tiene desperdicio:
